Yeah yeah, have fun with your partners/ belay slaves. I'm still soloing  The worst thing about soloing is thst you don't have anyone to back up your spray after you've ticked a route !

Went to QQ yesterday am, the place was really quiet, two groups of three on L face, and one "group" screwed around on layback for a half hour. ??It took longer to set thier anchors, and they were gone by 10am.

Kudos to the older gents that showed up around noon and were going through the I havent done this in years thing. They did well.

The only thing I can say negative is.......PEOPLE PICK UP YOUR FU*$&^G TRASH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sick and tired of doing it, 7-11 coffee cups everywhere, marlboro light cigarette boxes everywhere ! Butts everywhere !

Folks actually wonder why they get kicked off privately owned land ?, Why NE Utilities frowns at climbers ?? It's common sence, if you bring it in, BRING IT OUT !!

I brought a 5 gal, water cooler for the other climbers, and by golly they took the hint, stay hydrated, stay alive !

FYI for those climbing in the heat...get rags, cut them into strips, wrap them around your wrists about 3-4"...wrp a bit of tape around that (so it doesn't come un done) This will keep the sweat from getting to your hands, also if you start to overheat, wet the wrist wraps with cold water....your wrists are pressure points and it will take your body temp., down fast !

Climb safe, drink water, have fun, and pah-leeze pick up yer sheet!

Bonesz you really should come to CR sometime, I'm there 2-3 days a week, and there's almost always people there to climb with. I'm going to be ther tomorrow in fact from about noon on, if you're available and interested. from lowell it's a straight shot down 495, 35-40 minutes tops. It's literally 2 miles from exit 20.

got together with the new guy Garth (got him up on send money right away, heh heh! he was game and gave it a good effort!) and wannabeaclimber yesterday, met a bunch of kewl people...

Matt & Kristen
Matthew and Christina (sp?)
Angel
few more I didn't get the names of...

we climbed our fricken heads off! took some pics too, mostly of me, I'll write up some pages and post them over the next few days.

I repeated Excersize Left to the Reader twice, psyche! finally have the moves up the crack figured out...On to Techno Dweeb! ;-)

I have turned into such a fricken rock junkie, that when I couldn't get in here last night I signed up on NEClimbs.com with another MASS CLIMBERS thread in their "partners" forum, and also joined the yahoo groups nerockclub...LOL!

you are all free to tell me to STFU ;-)

when rc.com is down, that's where I'll be...

Bonesz, send me a PM anytime you want to climb. I live in Boston, so QQ is close, or I'd be happy to meet you somewhere else.

Robbovius, yeah, the crimping on send money did me in. Gotta start doing some finger exercises! I'm not sure what's going on tommorow, but I'll keep CR in mind.

I was out at Crow Hill yesterday (7/5). The rock has pretty much finally dried out. First climb of the day I finally led Tarzan(5.eight). What a great lead (if I may say so myself). If I may spew (er, I mean spray) for a moment... last time (two years ago) I tried to TR that line, I think I had to weight the rope. Felt pretty d@mn hard on TR then. So to get the lead cleanly feels like a real milestone. Also TRed some other fun stuff like Thin Line and Franny's Folly while I was out there. Crow Hill will always have a special place in my heart, as I did my first lead there - The Blue Route, I believe.

Cracklover, nobody minds that kinda spew. 5.8 trad is stout.

had a great afternoon at CR with Wannabeaclimber, Foo, and Garth, had the entire crag all to ourselves!

I have made a resolution not to spray about my CR successes again, until I complete "techno dweeb" ;-) although, jake, if you read this, the Climb is no renamed, "Excersize left to Robbovius"

mike that's great about the FA of "Mikes Dirty Crack" ;-)

WideG got your PM kewl about the errant chalkbag, and yes, QQ some night this week, lemme check the calendar and see what's about.

I guess you can call it climbing...........I did some trad/ leading to do dead tree branch removal today. I'm having goals, I'm having people call upon me to go climbing; ugh stupid job..oh yeah did I mention I'm gonna be a daddy   :P I'm nervous and confused, excited and full of anxiety all at the same time. Do they make baby sized harnesses ??

My wife thinks I'm going to stop climbing ??? SHAHHHHHHHH RIGHT.

If anything I'm going to bring her along with de bebe, to watch. Honey I'm totally safe, responsible and getting pretty good at this thing (smirks and giggles to himself in the dark)

Actually I'm trying to get my father in law to go ice climbing with me this winter, I'll go skiing (sp) with him...........

So what's a new dad to do ??????????

I hope you all had the best holiday weekend, enjoy the sun !

Happy climbing

Bonesz, Parenting is the only true measure of success. It is THE culmination of being an adult. congrats.

and when they're old enough you can train them to yell "You'll be SAWWWWRRREEEEEE!!!!!" out the car window at wedding parties you drive by...nothing gets better looks of horror than two cute little cherubs hollerin' that at some love-goofy bride and groom! HAW!

ahem, I mean, no, just kidding, really! I never actually did that. You believe me, right?

congrats dude!

now, get your ass down to CR. when your wife sees how serious we are about it, it'll totally set her mind at ease.

"Uhm... Yeah I guess so."

She'll feel SO reassured.

Bonesz, Congrats from the bottom of my heart man. Wouldn't trade being a dad for anything. It's a wild ride indeed.

Congrats Don. Boy or girl doesn't matter, as long as it's a climber.

On another note, I was just cruising through pictures ... remember snow? We thought it would never go away.

What an excellent day of climbing at CR!

Just want to thank robovius, wannabeaclimber, and foo for all the great belays and encouragement that helped me get me up the rock today! Special thanks to Foo for showing me the first sequence on that left most route...a little technique goes a long way!

Robb, what's the name of that route?

Garth, yeah you did great today. Foo is great with the encouragement and beta. Shane is really doing well too. I'm glad, she lost alot of ground last january, and I'm glad to see her coming back strong.

that route is, according to the Boston Rocks guide, a combination of "It's Late September" (bottom up to the ledge) and "Almost Cut My Hair" (overhang to top) lately I've been calling it the late september combo.

did Mike find his keys?

I have some pictures from climbing on the 4th, but I have been too lazy to do anything with them other than look at them.

Jer, I remember that! Snow, and Donuts ;-) lookit that fricken noob wearin' socks... hey, hey, that's ME! ;-)

I have been checking the weather, and it's not looking terrifically positive for an after-work QQ extravaganza (for me anyway), only because the 5 day is calling for rain wed night thru friday. I doubt I'd be able to make it tuesday because I'm not sure when kids' mom is coming back (off with B-friend) I think tuesday but probably not until tuesday night. Maybe the weather will stymie the forecasters again to our benefit.

Hello all;

I am looking for a partner to climb at the gunks sunday July 13. I would be looking to lead/ swap leads on some moderate (5.9 or below) routes. I have a rack and rope, and will be driving from Lincoln, RI. My preferred route is 146n to mass pike west. If you're interested E-mail me( I don't know if PM works for my computer).

hey folks, last thursday and friday while RC.com was down (and I was hoping that the folks I was supposed to climb with would show up), I signed up on NEClimbs.com hoping some of the crew whould check in there. For any of my regular climbing partners, if this site craps out while we are making pans and need to check in to firm things up, how about making it a plan to check the NEClimbs.com "partners" forum as our contingency site.
