It was 18 deg in Mt Shasta city at around 3,500'. ...so I knew it was going to be cold. I slept the night before at the trail head. At 10:30 it got too cold for me to sleep. (my bag isn't very warm, esp in a bivy bag in the back of my truck). So, I had to get moving.

I got moving and made good time. I gained the ridge proper rather early and followed the ridge to around 11,000. I think I like ridge proper over the gully.

It was 0 deg above tree time before wind chill. With wind chill it was around -16 deg. when I started hiking, I was wearing my base layer and a vest. As I gained the ridge, I had to put on my down jacket. I've never had to hike in my down before.

We are free awl daze sonday. I don't have any solid plans for Sunday and will most likely be making bread and recovering from Christmas parties on Saturday night. But if you want to make the trip up to noiZ I'd be happy to show you around. We could even do a couple of roots at the crag I took Kart to. The wife would love to go to the noiZ. So we gladly accept your offer. I will PM our cell. She was supprized to learn noiZ is so close to LV, well I knew it was close but never put it together that it was that close.

might be heading to san gorgonio this weekend... was just going to be a hike, but since it saw snow this week who knows! I'm a little nervous if there is enough for skiing, because that would be day #3 in my skiing career wooo sink or swim! or in this case survive or pull a bono!
