If you ever get an invitation to climb with GunkieMike go for it. Dude climbs hard, and gets your mojo climbing. But tomorrow is my last day on vaca, so I'm braving the over 100 temps to go with jackflash, he's a gas gas gas! Real men look for shade! Update-what a hardman! Groovy-5.8+ Ant Line-5.9 Lisa 5.9 I then cried "no mas" Ursula 5.5 Cake Walk 5.7 I was a sweaty mess, felt used and abused. But what a day, doing it in 100 degrees!

I lead 5.9 trad or less (plenty happy with less), follow 5.11, looking to do some classic poko or chapel routes, maybe something afar. I am orignally from the area and have a house on chazy lake for use that week. Will be heading up there from boston and then back to boston on thurs night. Moving to Queens in 5, 4, 3, 2.... I'm going from BFE to Queens- :wtf: A different hell, but still of my own creation, so though the geogrpahical lo-cal changes, the state does not. The positives??? Living with my favorite climbing partner an being 1.5 hours from the Gunks instead of 4 hours! :D

Just thought I would add my name to the list of New York climbers. I'm not really a climber, but I'm interested in climbing, and am looking for someone to show me the ropes, technically and metaphorically. I'm in Syracuse, and as far as I know, Little Falls and Finger Lakes have some spots, but I don't know the first thing about climbing. If anyone feels like teaching, send me a PM. =)

holy crap there are alot of Gunkies in the tetons this summer. at least half the folks I've been climbing with this summer are from the gunks region in NY. one might call it a westward migration. it's odd how I've run into folks from NY in the tetons, devils tower, the neadles, and city of rocks this summer. we are frickin everywhere!!

P.S. anyone climbed "creation of the world" in the Daks? I hear that it's really rad and fairly hard. if I end up back in NY for a week or two would it be worthwhile to check out?

Hey all, I'm looking for a Gunks (or other area, I'm totally open to travel) for weekday/weekend climbing for the rest of this summer. Been climbing for almost 10 years now, but only seriously the last two years. I own a top rope setup and sport rack, but no trad, willing to follow though. 5.9 seams to be my upper limit at the Gunks, although I'm willing to try anything.

I'm looking for outdoor climbing in the rockland coutny area of NY. The routes data base only shows indoor gyms in Westchester area. I live in CT but work in NY and I'm looking for a place to climb after work. Some place to top rope or boulder. If anyone has any information please share. Thanks, Sean

Is anyone going to the gunks for laborday?? :D I'm a visiting climber (iowa) and have the weekend off. I've got a rack and rope and car. Solid and safe. Currently in Scranton, PA area. I've never been to the gunks before and would really like to climb with someone who know the area. PM if interested. Please don't let me waste the weekend rope soloing / begging rides in the gunks. John

Hello, I recently moved to NYC for law school and I'm looking for any possible partners. I don't know how much climbing I'll actually be able to do, but you gotta try. I'm looking to maybe try the Gunks, I've never been there before. I'm a pretty new leader. Just started trad'ing this past March, I have a rope and full rack (more then full...) and I've been sport leading since last summer (full sport rack). Most of my climbing is Seneca, WV (trad)....Franklin, WV (sport)..... and around the Tahoe, CA area when I started climbing a few years ago, not leading. I'm easy to get along with, I don't have a car (living in Manhattan makes it unnecessary), but this lack of car makes it hard to....you know....drive anywhere to climb. That's about it. Joe

I'm gonna be in the city friday sep. 15th and I wanna check out the bouldering in Central Park. Anyone interested in giving a little tour? (or If I went to Rat Rock, would I be able to just meet a local and get beta on the area) I'd be willing to return the favor as well. I can give a pretty good tour of Rumney. PM me if interested. Dom

I'm looking for a Gunks partner for Saturday, Sept. 30. I can follow up to 5.8 or the occasional 5.9 but can't lead. I'd be happy to provide transport from the metro NYC area. Yasmin

Just wanted to let everybody know that we're premiering the latest Teton Gravity Research (www.tetongravity.com) ski and snowboard film at The Cliffs this Saturday. TGR's newest flick "Anomaly" is having an advanced screening at The Cliffs at Valhalla. The trailer: http://www.tetongravity.com/viewer/Clip_ANOMALYTEASER.aspx It's this Saturday, Oct 14th. Doors open at 8 pm and the show starts at 9 pm. There's a limited amount of tickets so purchase them now at The Cliffs, American Terrain in White Plains, or any of the Pedigree Ski Shop locations. After the film, there's a DJ and a FULL OPEN BAR sponsored by RedBull. There will also be raffles and prizes (including a dream ski vacation). Check out www.TheCliffsClimbing.com or call 914-328-7625 for details. See you there, Mike W

Rock-n, where you from? Moss Island may be an option for you. Lots of climbs but nothing over 60-70 ft stuff. If you look the posts are not listed last post first. LMBO Maybe you figured that out.

Allright I am looking for some people to chill out and climb with. Anyone on Long Island that may be interested in climbing at the rock gym in Plainview? Or perhaps exploring some beach bouldering on the north shore.
