I went climbing. It was a scary thing to do after my accident, and there were things that bothered me more than I thought they would. But I finished some climbs (ice climbing), I managed to rappel, and I climbed out of the area. Today I'm completly emotionaly drained.

Congrats granite_grrl. It's never easy to come back from an accident/injury/etc. Every day out there is a step closer to where you want to be.

Wow Granite_grrl, you are a true inspiration - it took a lot of guts to get out there again. I'm glad that you have recovered and are "getting back on the horse" so to speak. Good luck to you! Sonya

aw geez everyone.....thank you. Its good to get encouragement, I'm scared enough that there are times that I'm having a hard time enjoying myself. I went out again yesterday and actually did enjoy a bit of the climbing, so I'm hoping it won't take too long.

I've been living in Seoul for several months now, and my latest accomplishment was finally getting up the nerve to workout at a climbing gym where no one speaks English. It was intimidating but exciting too. I've gotten involved with the climbing community here, and have found myself an excellent partner. I'm totally stoked to keep improving my skill.

My second group of partners were Koreans. Since then I have forgotten a lot of the commands, but I think belay is "hwak-bo," falling is "choo-rak," but for some reason we all said "tension" in English. Are you climbing with KAF?

I have English speaking partners that I will spend most of my time with on real rock. The gyms here in Seoul are 99% bouldering gyms (space is at a premium in this booming metropolis). I am learning a bit of Korean, but I am not spending a ton of time with my language books. I don't know who KAF is, but I've met a lot of foreign climbers through Korea on the Rocks, which has been excellent!

It's Korean Alpine Federation. Seems like a great group. I've met people who are part of the American section. I definately want to climb Korean rocks some day.
I went to the red this weekend and worked on leading this route (Seek the truth) that was rediculously overhung (not my style), and scary
I did this route awhile back and I nearly decked on it too (my belayer didn't do the math). I sent next go, however. If you like this route, get on Velvet at Bob Marley - much, much steeper. And, the crag isn't closed (Torrent is now closed to the public). The route to the left of Seek is stellar as well, but more technical. Velvet is probably a more true 11d

I did my fist climb outdoors which was awesome, I also scaled my first 18 (OZ grades) and I did it in sneakers. I don't have climbing shoes yet and the boy said there was no way I could get up that untill I had 'proper' shoes. Couldn't swipe the grin off my face! I have only been climbing for 2 months so they're probably pretty tame accomplishments but they're firsts for me so I'm proud of them anyway

The first few months when I started climbing I didn't have shoes either (first year moving away from home, 2nd year university student, shoes seemed so much more expensive back then). But I was still hooked and had a great time out climbing.

I fulfilled my New Years Resolution by making an overdue appt. for my Gyne check up! I figured maybe someone else out there could use a reminder too. Plus this is a thread worth bumping to the top. What have you done lately?

I've been feeling pretty good recently, I increased my leading (at the gym), and have as a result been feeling much more comfortable. I basically just lead until I'm too tired to lead, and then I let myself toprope. The results are good. Last time I climbed outside in November, I lead on of my hardest leads, and even though it's not hard compared to other folks, I felt really good about it! I also have been running longer and longer distances, working up to a half marathon distance. Getting up early once a week to do a 5-6 mile run and several other runs through the week.

Started working on and sending v3s (which I can't complain about on a bum shoulder and ankle...), started working on a blog (unrelated to climbing) that is showing decent growth, and, most importantly, started eating better. Someone suggested fast food to me a couple of days ago and just...no. ick.
