so once i was telling one of my non-climbing friends at school about a climbing trip I just went on and this kid listening to our conversation adds "hey have you ever been to that gym where there's all the queers with the ballerina shoes and bags of powder?" ( i assume he was trying to sound superior...) response: "yeah i work there" :lol:

when talking to my colleague recently about my visit the previous evening to the climbing wall he asked whether when you get to the top of the route there's a slide on the other side for you to use to get back down! He looked very confused when I explained to him that you just walk back down.
thought that although that was one of the most stupid things I'd heard, it was actually a pretty fun idea......might try and build one

Not necessarily. I hoped whining would get someone to actually point out what they found objectionable. Of course, the only result (aside from your post) is another poo stain. Replying may take some reflection and effort, while pushing the rate button is simple in its passive-aggressive glory.

In an elevator, I was wearing a shirt from a bouldering comp.
Oh, you boulder? So you're from colorado? She then goes on for about five minutes about how her sister moved to colorado. I politely listened, then explained about how it's a type of rock climbing. It then went into how her long lost friend was a mountain climber, everest, bla bla bla. I explained the difference, then pulled out my keys (on a toy biner) explaining that I had to go, then got a lecture on how that toy biner is not for climbing, and I should really buy real ones if i'm thinking of climbing.
Nice lady though...

I was ice climbing, tied in with ice tools in hand and a hiker walks by and says... "you can't climb on that ice, you're gonna slip and fall" My belayer fell over laughing.
