In reply to: Hypothetically, you could stay at our place in Scottsdale--unless, of course, your planned hypothetical arrival time in AZ will be in the middle of the night. In that case your hypothetical place to crash would have to be elsewhere. Hypothetically speaking :D Curt Geez Curt I kind of had you figured as more of a Sun city kind of guy. I'll have to talk to my hypothetical traveling companion and see what the dealio is. But it sounds like we'll probably be arriving sometime after your preferred bedtime of 7pm. We (hypothetically) appreciate the offer though.

I've been so taken with the Fury I missed these posts. Art-baby, as your hypothetical travelling partner, I am hypothetically completely flexible as I hypothetically train dogs. Hypothetically, they don't care if I hypothetically don't train them for a few days. Hypothetically, I am putty in your hands. Though I suspect with all the attention the Fury is getting, she might want to come now, as it is a user gathering. JUST KIDDING.

You won't believe how long it took me to train her to do that! I must now resist the urge again to leave my spazmatic Husky out of the doggie games!

Hey Now! All this growling and barking is making me reconsider leaving the mighty Sandy Dawg at home! Hillary, did you wanna bring that cat for disopsal? Nah, she's staying home this time, unless she manages to stow away again.... (it's happened before!) his holiness, ---Irreverent Ford--- Handler (handler is singular, i still got one!) and keeper (as much as can be done) of the Mighty Sandable Dawg, sole offpsring of the two headed dog guarding the gates of Hell. ain't she sweet?

In reply to: Well, it's gettin' about time for the 3rd Annual AZ Gathering. Where: Flagstaff, AZ. If you're flying in to Phoenix, PM wage22. She's coordinating pickups and transport to Flag. If you want to offer a ride up to anyone coming in, please contact her as well. If you plan on picking a friend up, we don't need to know about it  If you need a place to crash on Thursday night before heading up to Flag, PM me. When: Labor Day Weekend Fri, Sept. 3rd - Monday, Sept. 6th Camping: Fay Canyon. Directions as per Curt: "In general, to get to Fay Canyon from Flagstaff proper, you drive out the Lake Mary Road (as if you were going to The Pit or Priest Draw) and then after a couple of miles or so, you turn right on a dirt road--exactly where the first cattle guard crosses the Lake Mary Road. That is Fay Canyon. Proceed down this road until it makes a large dog-leg turn to the right. At this turn there is a huge parking and camping area. A normal two wheel drive passenger car can make it to this point with no problems--as long as you steer around the major ruts in the road--and as long as the road is not real muddy." If you need to need further directions....let me know

I may hop in my truck with my roommate and head to AZ next Thursday. I've been wanting to get out to Paradise Forks for awhile. I guess my main worries would be that there are going to be too many people on the rock? My other worry would be whether I could get a camping site near the Forks on such a busy weekend? Any ideas? Luckily, I do have a place about 45 minutes from Red Rocks nowadays, and it is starting to get cooler in my Death Valley mind, so I do have a backup plan. Still, I love crack! Oh, would I need to bring two 60s or will one do?

Dont know about the 60 meter ropes but when it comes to camping, you can camp just bout anywhere in the flag area if you dont mind back woodsing it... Up near Mt. Humphry's (further north than the climbing I know, but not that bad) there a great places to camp. Just follow the dirt rodes and pop a tent. Do have to watch out for fire restrictions etc. Need to check the forest service web sites for this.

1 60 M should do it for the Forks, if I remember correctly. Ohhhh, Forks, you are going DOWN! We have a score to settle (waves #2 cam).

One 60M will be fine for climbing at the Forks, but bring plenty of webbing and cord -- possibly a short static line -- to set up a tope rope. You'll also probably want another line to set up for rappel to get down into/back out of the canyon. We usually bring one rope and set it up on a route that we know we can TR to get out of the canyon, and then another one for leading/TRing the routes we want to climb. There are no fixed anchors, so everything you set up on top for climbing or ascending will need to be off of a tree or gear at the top. Looking forward to seeing you there! We'll talk more politics -- see if I can convert you this time. ;-) Ed
