All male climbers that I know are turned on by women who climb hard. Muscular climber chics rock.

I have the very real problem of falling in love with every beautifully sculpted angel who can outclimb me.

I climb in a gym of a female to male ratio of about 1 to 10. I've found that climbing with my group made up of guys (me being the only female) I've been pushed harder than ever on the wall. I've never got the impression that the guys have felt threatened or whatever, they're the best support I've ever had. They are the ones that are constantly telling me how good I look on the wall, and pushing me further and further. Having never dated a climber until recently, I've discovered how awsome it is to date someone who totally understands the passion for the rock. I push him hard, and he pushes me hard on the rock... it just get's him a bit upset when I'm having a fab day and pushing my limit harder than him. But then I get frustrated when anyone is climbing harder than me, be it female or male... I hate being beaten, so it motivates me.

I wouldn't say that I'm intimidated by woman who are better than I, they have worked hard and gotten to where they are by their own accord. My hat goes off to all those weman out there that are good climbers and if I meet some of you some day I hope that you can teach me something of value. I like when a girl can beat me in something, b/c it doesn't ever happen and I'd like a change every now and then. spydermonkey

Hmmmm.... Im pretty young (18) and Ive been climbing since 13. I was brought up in a very conservative household (Im Swiss and Korean), and I still am extremely conservative. I should clarify that when I say conservative I mean in terms of gender roles and family, etc. (although yes, I am Republican). Anyways, when I see a very muscular chick it doesnt intimidate me, it just seems a bit wierd to me. Because of the upbringing ive had and because of how my culture has influenced my ideas on beauty, I dont really warm up to them at first. I respect their climbing though, and agree that they do some awesome stuff, however I do not find the overly muscular women good looking at all. Hah, i guess i should put down though, that climbing can have some wonderful toning effects on the female physique.

Just because this thread got bumped... Since I started climbing, I notice I'll check out a girl and think, "Woah, nice back!" I'm checking out female backs now?! There's something I never saw coming.

because this thread is back from a 4 year sleep... something a climber boy told me... 'yeah, I totally want a climber chick! Unless she pulls harder than me. She's better than me, then it's totally over'. sweet kid, but what a tool.

i can't remember seeing a female climber that i didn't,,,,well,,,,like. i am not in the least intimidated by strong female climbers - to the contrary - i applaud them! who would you rather be on the rock with when stuff goes south? or in the "outback" when you get into trouble? i want someone who can help me - maybe carry me or my gear - whatever! i refer to my wife as "packable" cause i can throw a pack on her and we head out! i applaud the not so strong female climbers as well! hey,,,, after all we're all just good folk havin a good time, Right? but i still love to see women climbing. i esp. like to be the belayer! 8^)

I am a visual person. . .I wish you would post picts so I could judge on a case by case basis! But seriously if you are not challenged by hanging out with people that are better than you(male or female) then you already have a problem and getting a girlfriend isn't going to help! I like people that challenge me. . .and if they are hot. . .more the better! I love RC.com especially the hilarious posts!

I gots a few things to say... Guys who are intimidated by strong(er) chick climbers are weiners. Cut climber chicks are hot. The end. p.s. My wife is a small climber chick (5'3" 120) who can campus and beat up most guys.

Any male who is intimidated by a strong woman has weak sperm and will give you ugly babies with 6 fingers on one hand. Avoid breeding with them at all costs. Strong women rock. Nuff said.

Intimidated by women cause you're not masculine enough? he he he, HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!! oh, back to the point. I didn't say she could beat me up, just most guys. I used to wrestle and she (including other climber guys) puts up more fight than anyone I've wrestled, minus a couple of dudes years ago. I still can beat her, but at the cost of a bloody nose from being head butted <---- not legal in freestyle. My other buds either lose or run away. Not many good looking women can claim that.

last fall i was dating the man of my dreams. he was primarily a kayaker, but was more recently getting into climbing. we spent blissful sunny afternoons at local crags; he had natural skill and was getting better by the day. then one weekend we went to the gunks. i was on my game and climbed really hard. he couldn't do many of the routes i did, but ran up tons of climbs in his skill range. back at camp slime each night we relaxed by the fire and roasted corn on the cob and collapsed in the tent. i'd though the weekend couldn't have gone better and was more in love than ever. when we got back to school that sunday, he dumped me. i was dumbfounded, confused, shocked. i felt like he had shot me. was it that i outclimbed him? i may never know. so in response to whoever asked if women would climb with men who were new/not-great climbers, YES. that in itself does not matter to me at all. if i gravitate towards better climbers as partners, it is because they tend to push me harder to succeed - i don't mind a newbie if they persist and love it! especially if i am in love with them (sigh  ). in terms of dating, one of my two best friends from home, eric, has forbidden me from dating non-climbers. i agree with him - my passion for climbing deserves a match in my man. i am greatly encouraged and warmed by the support many of you men have posted on this thread for strong climber chicks. hope to see you at the crag.

Most of my climbing partners have been women. Very few have been stronger climbers, but I'm always hopeful that they will improve. I can't think of anything better than having a female climbing partner that I have to try and keep up with or that would be willing to lead something harder for me to second. Intimidated, no. Enticed would be a better word.
