WOW! Looks like an awesome climb (though that chimney looks like a pain to be in, really). Where was it?

Etat de Choc, Petit Clocher du Portalet, the backwaters of Chamonix.

That chimney...ummm, let's say it was very interesting...

you wouldn't had fit in there anyway.Tongue we had to take off our helmets to be able to move our heads.Pirate
I'm normally not claustrophobic but I couldn't hide a slight panic.

exhale...move...inhale. exhale...move...inhale. exhale...Crazy

however, climbing- or should I say squirming- in that chimney isn't the only option to climb this pitch. offwidthing it with your body half in is better...yet more scary.

yup, for once mark sweated on a lead and spent some considerable time going up and fighting with his head...
leading the offwidth on the outside is a proof of courage if ever one needs one!

Gabe - you see you have to come back to sample some of this offwidth goodness on this side of the ocean! In the meantime I finally found where to apply some of your teachings!!!

Pretty cool! Yes, I'll have to do that sometime.

Meanwhile, I just noticed - what's all this shiny stuff? Looks like more than two pieces on the pitch. What am I misundertanding?

And remind me that I have to climb again... last time I touched some rock was early July or so...

you're right. but I didn't remember another piece. was probably too consumed with climbing to remember more than two pieces. might have been the fixed sling...

Yo thomas, what is our list? we wanted to go to kalymnos in oktober, but money went into the car and the house. So now we are looking for 2 nice weeks near a beach in europe, preferrably drivable by car, else fly?

So far i came up with
finale ligure
Arco (no sea but there's water!)
Montpellier and region (claret)
Nice region (turbie, peillon, castillon)
Marseille region (calanques, cimaļ)
Costa blanca (rodellar, sella, murcia) don't know if it's at the coast

someone else has good options?
drivable by car
beach available
routes till french 6b and from 7a till 8a up (that could be the main problem, finding those 2 gradings in one area)

I still wanna go to Sardegna either late Sep or late Oct. Can't decide since I'm not sure what's going on job-wise. Been there and it's superb. Easy approaches, perfect limestone, well protected... and the weather should be perfect then.

really? how is nik? i didnt know he was in eruope at this time. if you see him again, say hello to him for me pls.

Hi Overlord!

Yeah, I'm back in Europe for a few months. Any chance you'll want to join Tisar and I in Saxony? Probably the weekend of the 8-9.

He's right, I don't spend enough time in Europe to consider myself a Eurofreak.

"Top" of the list :
Majorca ; Finale ; Croatia ; Ticino ; Turkey ; Vilanova de Meia

"Bottom" of the list :
Siurana + Montsant ; El Chorro ; Sardinia ; Slovenia.

the final decision wil be made with my bavarian friends.

I'll be in Kalymnos in late September (21-28th or so) if I don't change my mind.
